Vera [Perlon I Hello?Repeat
Jamma & Max [Bread & Butter]

——————————————
Constantly evolving and picking up impulses, she follows her intuition rather then trendsand she keeps surprising with unexpected sets, that have a humble, female touch.

Her roots reach back to the golden age of techno and house- the early 90’s. Over a decade of experience behind the decks turned her into a routined DJ, that is booked in numerous places all over the world. At the same time though, she’s still a insiders’ tip to many.

Since 2004 she’s a resident DJ at the Robert Johnson Club in Offenbach. As a producer Vera released music on respected labels such as Perlon, Oslo, Hello?Repeat & HalfBaked – solo works as well as colaborations with Ricardo Villalobos, Federico Molinari and with Maayan Nidam, under the moniker Mara Trax. Since 2011 Vera lives and works in Berlin, where she’s hosting regular nights at her favorite Berlin music place, Club der Visionäre.

Bread & Butter with Marco Shuttle & Tom Demac

Bread & Butter Sep 15 web

We kick off our 5th season at Basing House with 2 talented guests:

Marco Shuttle

Operating in the abstract regions of techno and coming from a visual (fashion) background, Marco Shuttle has carved out his own little niche in recent years. Releasing on outlets such as Time To Express, The Bunker and Clone, Marco Shuttle’s journeying techno sound is very detailed and organic, and as such has turned the heads of those in the know. As a DJ he is just as considered, never doing anything just because, but instead focussing on form and function in equal measure. Marco Shuttle, then, as boss of his own Eerie label, makes and mixes together music that is exactly that.

Tom Demac

There’s no second guessing Tom Demac. From his earliest output in the fertile techno scene of his native North Wales to his most recent world-beating 12”s, he has never shied away from trying something new. Independent of the platforms his music is released on, Tom’s set has imprinted his name and sound on the minds of many. From DC10 to Fabric & Panoramabar, Tom’s sets have always kept the energy high and dynamic, a constant tribute to the techno roots that set him on his way.

We start our 4th season at Basing House in style bringing Dial / Smallville label boss Lawrence from Hamburg – Germany.

Peter M. Kersten aka Lawrence / Sten launched the Dial label in 2000 together with Carsten Jost.
With his Labelmates Pantha Du Prince, Efdemin, John Roberts it is not only the music they spread, residencies in Berlin’s Panorama Bar or Ego Club Hamburg and the House Music sublabel Laid Records make the Dial imperium go round.

His deep love to house and techno music made him launching a record store in Hamburg St. Pauli called “Smallville” and a second label under the same name.
It is no secret how much the Dial and Laid label co-founder loves the classic emanations House and Techno, and the fact that his track “Étoile du Midi” was featured on Sven Väth’s prestigeous “The Sound Of The Thirteenth Season” proves that this love is highly recognized in the scene.

Party: Bread & Butter with Ripperton & Moodtrap

Image

On 31st of May we welcome back Ripperton after his amazing set at Bread & Butter last year. Joining us on the night will be Tsuba’s duo Moodtrap plus residents Jamma & Max.

[Ripperton]

With an artist name derived from the legendary soul singer Minnie Riperton, it’s crystal clear everything is based around soul for Raphael Gros aka Ripperton aka Headless Ghost.

Mid-noughties, Ripperton gained massive attention through his his Lazy Fat People project releasing on labels such as Border Community, Planet E, and Wagon Repair. It was in that very same period when Ripperton made his breakthrough as solo artist with an almost endless run of releases topped with a series of high proOile remixes. From immersive techno to reOined house, Ripperton adds a newfound sense of introspection to electronic house and techno music.

In 2010 the long awaited debut album ‘Niwa’ is released on Green. Ripperton’s debut album dips you into a bathtub Oilled with organic sounds and beautiful melodies. By the end of 2011, Ripperton shows his compositional talent on the mini album ‘Lost in Colours’, released on Systematic. In between these two projects Ripperton collaborates with Deetron and they deliver the outstanding ‘Depth Frame’ EP on Music Man. The Swiss duo even takes it a step further by creating Roots Panorama releasing ‘Threee’ on Versatile.

2013 turns out to be the next exciting year in his career with a new album ‘A Little Part Of Shade’ on Green. The LP’s multiple programmed rhythms loosely mimic a more natural world and see’s him work alongside a variety of artists. The thirteen tracks reOlect Ripperton his approach to electronic music production, song writing attitude, and the sense of poignant delivery that extends the purview of techno clubs. The same year Ripperton returns with his Headless Ghost guise. A side project, making its way to the forefront, devoted to hardware and analogue recordings. After the 2009 ‘Backend’ EP, Headless Ghost delivered three stunning EP’s: ‘Fronted’ (Clone Royal Oak), ‘Out’ (Tamed Musiq), and ‘77’ (Tamed Musiq).

By 2014 Headless Ghost is going live on stage backed up with a live visual show (by Aiko).
It is not only as a DJ/producer that Ripperton has his grip on the electronic scene, but he also runs ‘Tamed Musiq’ which is an intimate imprint with no rules nor borders and home to a series of groundbreaking EP’s. From 2006 to 2012, Ripperton also ran the infamous Perspectiv stamp, which has been put on hold for the time being.

[Moodtrap]

Shedding the identity of their current producer / DJ project, Moodtrap duo will remain anonymous in a bid to simply let their music do the talking. Their purist approach towards the promotion of Mootrap is both refreshing and reflective of the attitude of their music, namely 90s influenced, classic house sounds.
Having first appeared with a track on the wonderfully inimitable Tsuba Records, Moodtrap’s releases are for Kevin Griffiths’ imprint exclusively. The debut EP, ‘Body To Body’ unveils four accomplished, underground house tracks. Displaying an old school energy and an utterly charming rawness, the guys have got their new alias off to a flying start. Their follow up, the ‘Make It Right’ EP sees the duo delving into the various different sides of their masked personalities. Through three new productions, the pair explore a heady concoction of bass driven techno, indulging their dubbier aesthetic before touching on the sounds of bassline and even garage.

6 Years Bread & Butter with DJ Deep

Image

Bread & Butter turns 6!

Over the last 6 year we’ve seen some amazing artists taking control of the decks at our parties.. and once again we’ve got a special line-up to celebrate with all the people who supported us through this journey!

Since getting his DJing break from Laurent Garnier twenty years ago, Paris’s DJ Deep has forged a singular path in House and Techno, becoming known for his strong musical selection and appreciation of the finer points of the artform – a DJ’s DJ, you might say. His career has played out over the radio waves (on Paris stations FG 98.2 and then Radio Nova) as well as in the most prestigious clubs in the world, including a longstanding residency at The Rex during the 90s.

Another side of this coin is Deep’s work with Jerome Barbe at E&S – together they designed the DJR400 portable rotary mixer – lauded by some as the best DJ mixer in the world, and now the travelling mixer of choice for DJs such as Theo Parrish, Carl Craig as well as DJ Deep himself.

Image

Perhaps more traditionally, his reach also extends into music production and label management – as the head of Deeply Rooted House, he’s put out music by Franck Roger, Manoo, his beloved Kerri Chandler, amongst others, and produced his own material as The Deep, Mondo and in collaboration with Julien Jabre, Saint Germain and Jovonn.

Joining us on the night will be French born artist Arnaud Le Texier. An artist with plenty of knowledge and substance behind him, Arnaud had been on the electronic music scene for over 10 years before commencing with Safari Electronique & Children of Tomorrow. His imprints made his name by often being the first to discover who was about to become a big talent. This tells a lot about label owner Arnaud Le Texier’s dj sets.

Support on the night will come from Make Me residents Rubin and Nic Baird plus Bread & Butter residents Jamma & Max.

Afterparty @ TBA warehouse venue in Hackney Wick.
The after will be guestlist only, send your names at breadandbutterlondon@gmail.com.

Bread & Butter with Andre’ Galluzzi

galluzzi ra

For our first installment of 2014 we present Panorama Bar resident and Cocoon favourite, Andre Galluzzi.

The Frankfurt born selector has lent his sound to some of the most prestigious institutions of house and techno including residencies at archetype German clubs, Tresor and Ostgut (the original name given to techno’s palace Berghain, in 1996).

Since then he has gone on to become resident at the world famous Berghain/Panorama Bar, a club in which he is famous for intoxicating 10 hour sets.

Andre has also had his hand in many solo and collaborative projects beyond the booth. He released the, now famously received, mix compilation, Andre Galluzzi: Im Garten. More collaborations came later with Guido Schneider– the two of them provided seminal records on labels like Ostgut Ton, Cadenza, Cocoon and and Highgrade. And most recently his partnership with Dana Ruh has brought us ARAS Recordings– where Andre handles the daily A&R responsibilities.

Party: Bread & Butter w/ Sascha Dive & Blessless

Image

Saturday 30th November we return to our home in Shoreditch (Basing House) bringing Cocoon’s artist Sasha Dive.

Whenever you start to think that dance music – Techno or House or Detroit and Berlin – is better suited for elderly people, suddenly there is a silver light on the horizon. And at the moment, it is Sascha Dive who is shining really bright. This young man from Frankfurt and his label Deep Vibes Recordings is among the most promising new producers and companies in Germany at the moment who, despite clear references to early U.S.-American sounds, all have found their very own rhythm and style by now. And so has Sascha Dive (this is actually his real name!).

Long before he turned 18 years old, he was deeply thrilled by the tapes his brother brought back home. He wanted to learn everything about this exciting music and hot nights out in clubs and at parties, for example Omen, XS, Wild Pitch Club or Robert-Johnson or DJs such as Ricardo Villalobos. And finally, Sascha Dive made his way into the coordinate system of Motor City in a more or less roundabout way. Records from Moodyman, Theo Parrish and Cie. telling stories about snoddy soul, flaky disco or shaking samplers are as inspiring to him as the dry funk and the abstract sounds from U.K. artists such as Baby Ford or Thomas Melchior.

The inventive joint between these two styles can be found in Sascha’s highly appreciated productions. Not to mention that he runs his label Deep Vibes Recordings all by himself and in a very characteristic style when it comes to artwork, A&R, remixes and productions. Moreover, he can look back on a number of extremely successful remixes and tracks released on labels such as Raum…musik and Drumpoet Community. Dive soon became famous for his first-class, deep House sounds with references to Scott Ferugson or master Tony Rodriguez. The reaction was enormous and rather unusual for this almost nihilist and cynical daily business and its innumerable records and releases.

Bread & Butter: Ed Davenport presents Inland at Basing House

Image

Ed Davenport will launch his new label ‘Counterchange’ with new material from his ‘Inland’project in April. Ed will go on the road with the more techno-focused Inland sound & Bread & Butter is pleased to host the Counterchange showcase in support of the imprint.

Berlin based brit Ed Davenport launches his own ‘Counterchange’ imprint, titled after his defining debut LP last year on UK label NRK. Maintaining the concept of presenting bold, contrasting and multi-faceted dance music, the label will release new material from Ed alongside other artists, ranging from techno, house, electronica, and beyond.

Blending atmospheric house with heavily laden techno, Davenport’s ‘Inland’ project was first revealed on the Berlin based Falkplatzlabel in 2012, with the self titled ‘Inland’ EP. Now with the ‘Solstice’ EP on ‘Counterchange’ we find ourselves drawn further into the Inland concept – combining dramatic synth-scapes with strong, pacy techno undertones.

5 Years Bread & Butter with Marc Romboy & APP Live at Basing House

Image

Bread & Butter is turning 5!

In celebration of this special event we are happy to announce Systematic’s boss Marc Romboy alongside App Live plus our Residents & Friends.

Over the last 5 year we have seen some amazing artists taking control of the decks at our parties.. and once again we’ve got a special line-up to celebrate with all the people that supported us through this journey!

Marc Romboy

Marc Romboy requires little introduction. Electronic music with a certain piece of soul – reminiscent of old school Chicago/Detroit dance floor insanity – is Marc Romboy’s true passion. Working in electronic music for over almost two decades, Romboy has co-founded and built internationally respected labels and projects, never tiring of coming up with fresh and innovative ideas to push the limits of electronic dance sounds.
He has founded his first own label called “Le Petit Prince” in 1993. His current imprint is “Systematic Recordings” which he set up in 2004 and which has quickly become a worldwide renewed imprints. He has released three Albums: “Gemini”, “Contrast” and “Luna” (in collaboration with Stephan Bodzin) and performed already in many remarkable clubs like Berghain, Watergate, Rex, Fabric and Harry Klein to name a few.

APP

App is the acronym for August and Peter Pixzel, and marks the coming together of two producers and musical minds. United by their love for electronic music, APP has its roots in opposing musical backgrounds: August Jakobsen grew up playing the guitar and piano, he went on to study Jazz at Trinity College of Music, was soon a member of and producing, a number of bands always enjoying the live aspect.
Peter Pixzel began his musical journey in Copenhagen as a DJ playing house music, his naturally inquisitive mind led him to learn the art of production and create music under his own name. A decade later, now in London, Peter began organising parties, as one third of WetYourSelf, the seminal weekly Sunday party at fabric in London. They recently conquered the scene releasing on labels such as Watergate, Diynamic, Wetyoursel & Kindish.
App is house music with an organic twist.
