Bread & Butter with Andre Galluzzi

Galluzzi 3

Bread & Butter welcome back Panorama Bar resident and Cocoon favourite, Andre Galluzzi after his great set last January.

The Frankfurt born selector has lent his sound to some of the most prestigious institutions of house and techno including residencies at archetype German clubs, Tresor and Ostgut (the original name given to techno’s palace Berghain, in 1996).

Since then he has gone on to become resident at the world famous Berghain/Panorama Bar, a club in which he is famous for intoxicating 10 hour sets.

Andre has also had his hand in many solo and collaborative projects beyond the booth. He released the, now famously received, mix compilation, Andre Galluzzi: Im Garten. More collaborations came later with Guido Schneider– the two of them provided seminal records on labels like Ostgut Ton, Cadenza, Cocoon and and Highgrade. And most recently his partnership with Dana Ruh has brought us ARAS Recordings– where Andre handles the daily A&R responsibilities.

Bread & Butter Warehouse Series with Kenny Larkin & Sascha Dive

BB Larkin

Bread & Butter present a limited series of warehouse events for 2014.
For this appointment we welcome Kenny Larkin, one of the world’s premiere leaders of Detroit techno plus Cocoon favourite Sascha Dive and Blind Minded Live.

Limited concession list: breadandbutterlondon@gmail.com

[Kenny Larkin]

To most electronic music aficionados, Detroit native Kenny Larkin is a man who needs no introduction. His impressive 20-year history of creating arguably some of the most timeless, soulful techno ever created, is unquestionable. But, to the newer generation of club-goers, who aren’t aware of his contributions, 2012 serves as the year to re-establish his position as one of the most valuable forces in dance music today.
Since the beginning of his career, Larkin’s profile was never considered massive, nor did he ever serve as the “face of techno.” Yet, the respect and admiration he garners from his fans, electronic musicians, and journalists globally leave little doubt as to his relevance, and influence in a genre that sometimes can be described as lacking in feeling, warmth and musicality.
It is that musicality that allowed him to give us an unforgettable collection of original material and remixes, such as the amazingly groovy Inner City “Share My Life.” Many consider this rework one of the best Inner City remixes ever done or the equally stunning remix done for Ben Klock’s “OK,”

[Sascha Dive]

This young man from Frankfurt and his label Deep Vibes Recordings is among the most promising new producers and companies in Germany at the moment who, despite clear references to early U.S.-American sounds, all have found their very own rhythm and style by now.
Sascha Dive does not hesitate to combine new and old, America and Europe, light grooves and finest melodies. He does not care whether a record is 10 years or 10 days old. What counts is its aesthetics and if the results fits in his sophisticated dramaturgy and subtlety of his set. Dive’s DJ sets are characterized by his knowledge of Afro-American dance music he skilfully translates into the empiricism of the European club scene and sociology that is becoming more and more expressive….

He runs his label Deep Vibes Recordings all by himself and in a very characteristic style when it comes to artwork, A&R, remixes and productions. Moreover, he can look back on a number of extremely successful remixes and tracks released on labels such as Raum…musik and Drumpoet Community. Dive soon became famous for his first-class, deep House sounds with references to Scott Ferugson or master Tony Rodriguez. The reaction was enormous and rather unusual for this almost nihilist and cynical daily business and its innumerable records and releases.

[AFTER PARTY with JADED] @ Corsica Studios 6am-3pm.

At 6am we’ll head over to Corsica Studios for our official afterhours party.
Jamma and Max will take over the room 2 controls.
Special discount wristbands for the afters will be handed out on the dance floor.

Enjoy xx

Party: Bread & Butter w/ Matthew Styles & Moodtrap @ Basing House

Image

Bread & Butter comes back with another finest line up to roll-off your saturday!
The internationally renowned Matthew Styles (Running Back-Ostgut Ton-Crosstown Rebels) will perform his unique signature sounds to an appreciative crowd along with Tsuba’s duo Moodtrap plus Nooned Crew + Bread and Butter djs resident.

Matthew Styles [Running Back, Ostgut Ton, Crosstown Rebels]

Englishman Matthew Styles is a special one. Firmly schooled in the history of dance music as a DJ, his productions usually carry a uniqueness that cannot be located in time and space. It was at the turn of the millennium when things started to happen for Matthew Styles, when he made a pivotal move to London. Once living in the capital he swiftly purchased an Akai MPC sampler, and met Damian Lazarus, and it was these two events that shaped Matthew’s next eleven years. In 2003 he took on an A&R role at Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels, and for the next six years he was responsible for bringing new artists such as Minilogue and Pier Bucci to the worlds attention. Parallel to working at the label Matthew honed his skills as a producer, quickly amassing an arsenal of studio gear preparing a debut 12 inch as a solo artist. Fast forward to the present and Matthew has tunes and remixes on NRK, Bar 25 and Bpitch, as well as several full EPs on tonight’s label Horizontal. A highly respected DJ by all his peers, Styles never disappoints with his supreme DJ sets.

Moodtrap [Tsuba]

The best way to find out more about yourself is to become someone else for a while. What better way to do that in music than unleashing a brand new pseudonym that gives you total freedom of expression? Just ask London based duo, Moodtrap. Shedding the identity of their current producer / DJ project, the pair will remain anonymous in a bid to simply let their music do the talking. Their purist approach towards the promotion of Mootrap is both refreshing and reflective of the attitude of their music, namely 90s influenced, classic house sounds.
Having first appeared with a track on the wonderfully inimitable Tsuba Records, Moodtrap’s releases will be for Kevin Griffiths’ imprint exclusively. The debut EP, ‘Body To Body’ unveils four accomplished, underground house tracks. Displaying an old school energy and an utterly charming rawness, the guys have got their new alias off to a flying start. Their follow up, the ‘Make It Right’ EP sees the duo delving into the various different sides of their masked personalities. Through three new productions, the pair explore a heady concoction of bass driven techno, indulging their dubbier aesthetic before touching on the sounds of bassline and even garage.
The thing that really excites about this project though is being able to watch this masked identity grow through their own vision, never having to relent to outside pressures. The creativity stems from the duo and Tsuba themselves and nothing more. Nothing can stifle their creative process and that surely gives Moodtrap the potential to be truly innovative and create something special.
